Citrus and Zigzags

Today, one of my coworkers told me, "I love when you wear yellow. It makes me feel happy."
Aw, that's so nice. Especially since I had a really frazzly day - minor things, but a LOT of them. I'm a good multi-tasker, but even I get overwhelmed at times.

  • Blouse - Kate Spade, thrifted; first worn here in April with neon tweed
  • Skirt - Kersh; purchased here for $19.99
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog; last seen here (3rd outfit) in April with a striped dress for Ali's birthday
  • Jacket (below) - Simon Chang, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in March as outerwear over another peplum

First wearing of this skirt and it was great.

The thing on my chest is a green ribbon for Mental Health Month.

It didn't ride up, the thick almost-neoprene fabric didn't wrinkle or crease and the pattern is fun.

I also like this longer length, particularly with a bit of a heel.
I mismatched my top and shoes today - the top is neon lime and the shoes are bright lemon. I have all the citrus!

I only wore the jacket for walking to and from work, but it looks good with the skirt, doesn't it?
Kind of has a bit of a Christmassy vibe to it for me, though - the skirt has a lot of red in it.

The stuff:
It's International Fluevog Day, so of course I had to wear a pair. I have a lot of Fluevogs - they make great shoes.

Silver bling:
The plain bangle is in the giveaway pile - the finish is flaking off, and copper is showing through on the edges. Bummer.

  • Filigree cuff - St. Paul's Cathedral gift shop, London
  • Dragon bangle - Lazy Susan's
  • Plain bangle - local
  • Silver/aventurine ring - consignment

  1. I love it when you wear yellow, too - it really suits you!
Boo to the flaky bangle but hooray to the possibility of finding a replacement. The other day a trader was selling a pile of formerly tarnished bangles she'd painted with enamel paint, they looked really pretty. I might try that with nail polish next time! x

    1. Thank you, Vix! Yes, I'll be looking for a new one on my travels - I like silver and steel, as they last far longer than these cheap plated nickel on copper things. I can't be bothered to go to that much work - painting with nail polish does sound fun, though.

  2. Your colleague is right, and it made me feel happy too! And I'm glad to say that I was right about the skirt. It looks even better on. Never mind about the mismatching, and I really cannot see the Christmassy vibe, so that's alright! What a shame about the flaking bangle though. I hate it when that happens. xxx

    1. Thank you, Ann! I know, these little things don't matter (but I see them!). I can't abide cheap quality - I hate when things fall apart. Gah. Ah well, it just means I can buy a new (hopefully new-to-me) one!

    1. Thank you, Elle! No, I agree - although maybe it's just that they seem more prevalent because we talk about them more?

  4. I'd be happy to see you at work with yellow on too! My male colleague had a shirt on in this shade yesterday and I was so glad to see him! Loving the quirky Fluevog heels!

  5. Yellow makes me happy too - I'm trying to acquire more of it for my wardrobe! :) Hopefully your co-worker will try wearing some yellow themeselves! :) It is such a cheerful shade and I like seeing others wear it too. Shame about your bangle though!

    1. It can be tricky - I can see you with yellow shoes! I don't think he would wear it, but it feels good that other people can get pleasure just from seeing what I wear. Eh, I'll find another, some day!

    1. Thank you, Lorena! The skirt fabric is not that special - it's a thick polyester knit, not quite neoprene squishy, but in that family.

  8. Bright colours have the power to brighten someone's day(including our own), don't they! Such a nice compliment from your coworker. Love the Fluevogs and I'd love to see a picture of your whole collection one day. X

I do love your top and shoes, different shades but harmonic, and your jacket, but the skirt is the star of the show!, it's a stunning piece!

  10. It seems to make a whole bunch of us happy to see you wear yellow. I haven't found a shade that I can wear, yet, so it's up to you to do it for me ;) This is a wonderfully cheerful, flattering outfit. I wasn't all that keen on the skirt when I saw the photo of it when you bought it, but it works great in this outfit.
