Pink Mohair, Black Silk and Cherry Reds

Today's outfit was all about the textures.
 Two new-to-me items combined! Bonus!

  • Mohair sweater - thrifted; purchased here for $24.99
  • Skirt - Ports 1961, thrifted; purchased here for $16.95
  • Shoes - Sencha Teapot, Fluevog; last seen here in November 2017 with woolly red
  • Coat (below) - Stop Staring!, thrifted; last worn here in April

Another bonus - my Castle view this morning.
Such gorgeous morning light. Very cold, though.

I love the bubblegum pink of this mohair sweater. It was snuggly to wear without being too hot. It breathed well.
I layered a cherry red camisole under it (not tracked) as it's very sheer.

I swooshed about magnificently in this silk skirt all day. What a lovely, tactile piece it is to wear.
Pockets! It might be a spring/summer skirt too - the silk felt very light, and I think it will be too chilly to wear in the deeps of December.

It has lovely movement.
The back got quite wrinkled over the course of the day.

Outerwear - I was freezing this morning. Time for my new-to-me toque! I did not need it, or the gloves, by the end of the day.
I adore this lovely dress. This is the perfect weather for it - it's too cold for really chilly temps.

  • Toque - vintage 70s, thrifted for $9.95, first wear
  • Gloves - Parkhurst.

I don't know what happened to my burgundy fingerless gloves, but I need that colour. Grey will just not do!

The stuff:
Bright cherry red - it has a strong pink undertone. I've had these shoes for 7 or 8 years. So comfy!

Black bling:
I love the weight of hematite - it is heavy to wear, and feels like stone (duh, hematite is a stone). It warms to your body. I find it very comforting, like a hug from my jewelry.

  • Belt - Gap, consignment
  • Chain metal bracelet - thrifted
  • Hematite necklace, ring and bracelets - various vintage fairs and thrifted
  • Hematite earrings - gift from Mom

Vizzini came around for cuddles this morning while I was getting ready. We sat and had a snuggle on the gold chair, then I slid him off so I wouldn't be late.
"What do you mean, my eyes are glowing? My eyes don't glow."

I can never resist one more pat or one more cuddle.
I hold that love and softness with me all day. Aw.

I will be back on Sunday with my Bigass Weekend Wrap-Up - have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

  2. Isn't the morning light gorgeous at this time of year? Well, if the sun is shining, that is ... The bubblegum pink jumper and swooshy silk skirt are a perfect match, and I love all the cherry red accessorizing too. Your fabulous grey coat, combined with the cherry red shoes and toque is a fantastic combo. Have a wonderful weekend, Sheila! xxx

  5. Ooh... aah... another valuable lesson from the Master. Switching gears, lately I've been pondering (with great admiration) your secret room/magic door and wondering how I can get/make one of those. It's hugely attractive to me.
