Pencil Skirt and Kermit Shoes

I'm a major fan of pencil skirts. I've worn them for decades, and have had some wonderful ones come in and out of my life.
Will this be one of them? I don't know - only time will tell.

  • Cashmere sweater - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last seen here in July 2017 with a bad scuba skirt
  • Skirt - Baraschi, consignment; purchased here for $10.00
  • Shoes - Poetic Licence; last worn here in November 2016 with bronze and velvet
  • Linen jacket (below) - Club Monaco, thrifted; purchased here for $13.50

This cashmere sweater is more like a t-shirt (in my last look, it's untucked), so I have to wear a camisole under it, as it's nearly see-through.
First wearing of this skirt - and I really liked it. Pencil skirts are a really good cut for me - this one was hugely comfortable (it has just a titch of stretch). I like how the floral design hugs the sides, and it's a polka-dot starry night in the middle.

You know how I feel about pattern that carries around to the back.
There are so many colours in this skirt, that everything goes with it...and nothing goes with it. There is no peach or coral in it to match the top - but there's red and orange, so close enough. And there is no bright green, but there is aqua and olive, so kind of in the middle. A good example of "it doesn't have to match; it has to go."

Outerwear - as suspected, this linen-blend jacket is awesome in the bright sun. I had ink coverage without feeling swamped.
"I think I should go in the hallway."
I wore this jacket only when I was outside. I felt very chic.
"This door must open somehow!"
I like the idea of it worn slouchy and casual too.
"Can't...quite...reach..."
I didn't know Vizzini was there until I saw the pictures. Silly kitty.

The stuff:
These shoes are my beloved "Kermit" shoes, so called because they are fuzzy in texture (those dots are all raised). I bought them in late December 2011 and first wore them here in January. Aw, there's our old kitty Inigo.

I am SHOCKED that I haven't worn them in a year and a half! They are only out from April to September, but that means I didn't wear them at all in 2017. They aren't that high, and they're about a B+ on the comfort scale - I walked to lunch with my boss and was on my feet for hours in them at my WW meeting. I tend to see them as super-dressy, so I pass over them as an everyday shoe. Interesting...I will have to try to wear them more this spring and see if I can get past that. I'm not ready to give these up, that's for sure! They are too cool.

Blue and green bling:
I liked the solidness of all the shapes.

  • Necklace - vintage, thrifted
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Cuff - thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring and Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
My friends, I will be back on Sunday with a bigass weekend wrap-up. And since it's Star Wars Day tomorrow, May the 4th be with you! Guess what I'll be wearing! A very happy weekend to you all.

  2. What a great outfit! I love this skirt, I agree, you sure rock pencil skirts. The shoes look retro to me, and I love that.
I don't think I even knew about Inigo. What sweet kitty pictures. I've had 2 kitties pass this year, my elderly Muff and then a youngster, Cleo. We still have Cleo's twin with us, Zoe, and that helps. But boy, it's so hard.
I hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Aw, thank you, Amie! These shoes are classic, no era. We had another cat before Vizzini - our dear Othello. I'm always nostalgic when I see the old pictures of them, and I'm so glad I have so many. I'm sorry to hear about your 2 kitties. They are like little comets - in and out of our lives so fast. Good vibes to you!

  4. I'm surprised it's been so long between wears too! I hope you do get more wear from them this spring.

I love your outfit too. I was wearing an outfit today and I didn't do the matchy matchy thing I usually do but I don't feel that everything really did 'go' together well, I need to work on that more!

    1. I was really surprised! Must wear them more!

Thank you, Mica - my eye told me that this all worked, but I do change things up when it feels 'off.'

  5. I'm loving that skirt, the print is so right up my street. I'm not into pencil skirts for myself nowadays, but I do love the look. Can't believe you're not wearing those shoes more. How fab are the raised dots! Oh, Vizzini, was he trying to escape? Have a great weekend and may the force be with you! xxx

    1. It's such a cool print, isn't it? I go in phases with different skirt shapes, but the pencil is always a constant. I know, I'm bad! I must wear them more. Yes, Vizzini was making a break for the hall - he has no interest in the outdoors (such a chicken-cat), but the hall is fascinating to him.

Ha, may the force be with you too!

  7. Your skirt has such a groovy print and the shoes are amazing, I can't believe you haven't worn them for so long although you are spoilt for choice in the footwear department!!!
Vizzini is hilarious! Stephen Squirrel is currently outside my window with his paw in the rockery wall, I've got a horrible feeling he's going to bring me a headless mouse later!
Have a fabulous weekend, Sheila! xxx

    1. I am rather spoiled by my selection, but that's no excuse for missing these beauties last year, Vix! Vizzini is such a goofus - at least I don't get dead mice, though! He has been attacking spiders lately.

      Happy weekend to you too!

  8. Loving your starry night skirt !
I love a pencil skirt with a bit of stretch also. I love the crisp white jacket - it really makes the outfit pop even though it is white. Something about the addition of the stark white really adds a great visual component.
Love the furry green shoes. We all need a pair! Have a wonderful weekend!

  10. Pencil skirts are so unforgiving, therefore I applaud you for wearing them as often as you do Sheila. The pattern on this one is lovely, the colours varied enough surely for lots of options on what to pair it with. And those poor neglected shoes - how could you? I'm so pleased to see them again as they're quite unique.

    Have a fab weekend sweetie!

  11. This is such a fabulous outfit, Sheila and you look amazing in it! I love the skirt and the colour of your cashmere sweater complements it beautifully. The blue and green bling is stunning and those shoes are fab! I always love your shoes but I think they might actually be my favourite so far! XXX

  12. I have a couple of pieces in my closet that don't go with anything, therefore, go with everything! When I first saw that white jacket in your earlier post, I thought it was ok, but now that I see it on you, I understand why it caught your eye. Those are seriously fabulous shoes.
