Jeans Week: Friday Blues, and Shopping Scores

It's the final day of Jeans Week, and I have to say, while it was fun, I am glad it's over. This is just a little too bland for me on a daily basis.
 I know, don't I look totally normal?

  • Shirt - Tyli, consignment; purchased here for $14.00
  • Jeans - Levi Strauss, thrifted; last seen here in April to go see The Beaches
  • Shoes - Miista; last worn here (3rd outfit) in March to go see the Wailin' Jennys

The jeans are my Levi bicycle commuter jeans. They are nice and dark, stretchy and comfy to wear while one is unpacking coat racks. Coat racks come in very large boxes.
The shirt is new-to-me and was purchased new with tags still on it. I love the uneven hem - see?

Also, the peek-a-boo shoulders, which you don't really notice unless I open them up.
A better view of the cropped hemline there too.

I clipped my hair back today to keep it out of the way.
Got business to do! Places to go! People to see!

The stuff:
I love these shoes - they get compliments wherever I go.

Blue bling:
 I went really minimal today.

  • Earrings - Lazy Susan's
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

Tonight, my besties Cat and Yvonne are coming over sometime around 11pm and we're going to eat British food, drink tea (and champagne!) and watch the royal wedding of Harry and Megan. I watched Charles' and Diana's wedding all those years ago, and I watched William's and Kate's too. Can't miss this one!

I popped into a sweet shop downtown to get some British sodas, and stopped in at Flavour Upstairs for a really quick look around.

I spied this fabulous necklace and earrings.
I love the rich blues! The earrings were $10.00 and the necklace was $14.00. Pretty good.

So sparkly!
These are clip-ons and are from the 1960s.

When I checked the earrings...well, there you go, I was hoping for that!
They are by Sherman, a famous name in costume jewelry, particularly in Canada. A bit about him here. He used Swarovski crystals and refused to compromise on quality, producing very expensive (for the time) and beautiful pieces.

I see sets like this for over $100 at vintage fairs.
I have a couple of Sherman sets: this parure here, that belonged to my Grandma J, and this pink crystal set here that I picked up for $25.00 at a vintage fair.

I also spotted these crazy pants and had to try them on. Seriously, checked pants!
With cuffs! These feel like quality - they're lined to mid-thigh.

I knew they had wool in them by feel, but nice to see it confirmed on the tag.
 They're made in Italy.

No tumble dry!
Why, yes, that does say Alexander McQueen.

Made in Italy too.
You can see the nice check there.

I paid $29.99.
Even used (and these are well-loved - someone wore them often!), Alexander McQueen's trousers sell for over $1,000. Score!

Feeling rather chuffed with my purchases, I strolled over to the Patch for a very quick look around, just to see what caught my eye. Ostensibly, I'm shopping for L (as his birthday is coming), but I didn't find anything for him.

This red shirt came home with me.
Sorry, it's a little dark, but it's like lace with ginormous circles.

It's by Talbots, and was only $19.95.
Looks like it sold for $129.00 new, so that's a good deal too!

Well, I need to go have a nap now so that I'm well-rested for all the excitement of the evening. I'll be back on Monday (it's a long weekend in Canada!) with my bigass weekend wrap-up. Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

  1. I like the cropped hem of that shirt! I thought you'd done a half tuck with it at first! I've enjoyed your denim week even though I know it's not your go-to style. It's good and inspiring to see you challenging yourself regularly! I need to try something like that next time I'm feeling like I'm in an outfit rut :)

    Enjoy the royal wedding!

    1. I know, it's an optical illusion! Yes, I do love a challenge, but I'm happy to go back to non-denim, I confess. Thanks, Mica!

  2. Like Mica, I thought you did a half-tuck. Quite an unusual shirt that it, with the peek-a-boo shoulders. The sparkly earrings and necklace are stunning, what a find! Also love the Alexander McQueen trousers and the red shirt, which I think will look great worn together! Have a lovely weekend! xxx

    1. It's neat, isn't it? Anthro always carries unusual pieces - it's great to find them in second-hand stores. I agree, those two pieces go well together!

  3. Cute outfit, particularly grooving the shoes. The crystal necklace & earrings are beautiful, I love vintage crystal pieces and have a particular fondness of brooches. I stayed up and watched Harry and Meghan tie the knot, feels like everything has come full circle. Lovely day and on top of that I bought some sexy red wedge suede sandals which I am wildly excited about, I'm definitely a shoe diva.

  8. Love the cheeky splits in your sleeves, those fabulous iridescent brogues and that spectacular bling!!
I found a leather McQueen bra with the labels still attached (far too big for me, sadly) at a car boot a few years ago - that soon went on eBay! We love people who buy designer and part with it, don't we?
Hope your weekend was amazing! xxx

The Alexander McQueen trousers are FABBBBBB. I cannot wait to see you wear them.

  10. Honey, how very strange to see you looking so er, um, yes, normal. There's no sparkle and shine or vibrancy to this outfit and much as the shirt it quirky, it really doesn't say much. The jewellery is pretty and man, oh man those trousers were a real bargain - what an awesome find!

    1. I know, it's weird, isn't it? I felt incognito. Some days that works for me.
