Jeans Week - Creeping Clothes

This post will feel small after yesterday's monster, hee hee. Rolling right along, as I do...here's today's jeans-themed outfit, featuring my denim skirt.
And some new-to-me velvets. And, it is Fluevog Day today, so I had to wear my 'Vogs.

  • Blazer - Vero Moda, thrifted; purchased here for $10.00
  • Top - American Eagle Outfitters, consignment; purchased here for $6.50
  • Skirt - Les Filles des Neaux, thrifted; first worn here (3rd outfit) in March on our anniversary trip to Vancouver
  • Shoes - Down to Earth Hadfield, Fluevog; last seen here (2nd outfit) in April with a bad dress

Not including my shoes, my entire outfit was bought second-hand for exactly $20.00 (yes, you mathy types, I paid $3.50 for the skirt).
I loved the crushed velvet silvery-grey shiny top - it is actually really cute on its own, if I feel like exposing that much of my bra straps. It does have that pesky characteristic of most synthetic velvets, though: it sticks to other fabrics. It's like wearing Velcro!

I adored this slinky deep burgundy velvet blazer too. It's begging to be all slouchy - the sleeves are really long and are meant to be scrunched up. I opened the pockets up this morning. Jam those hands in there!
My "I don't feel like working this week" face. We're going into a long weekend...can you tell?

Walking to and from work was annoying as both the jacket and the cami-top shifted around from my shoe/lunch bag and my cross-body purse.
And the skirt crept up my thighs! Some days you just don't get a break. Once I had the bags off, it was fine, though. Reprieve earned, clothes!

The stuff:
These shoes, however, were a lovely break. They are nicely comfortable, and a joy for my feet. Hurray for Fluevogs!

Silver and stone bling:
Every time I wear that mixed semi-precious stone bracelet, I'm reminded of how much I like it. L is good at picking jewelry for me.

  • Stone bracelet - gift from L
  • Silver cuff/earrings - Fossil, gift from L
  • Shield ring - Nine West
  • Turquoise ring - local

  1. Denim skirt, sequin top, velvet blazer -- who would have thought this would be such a gorgeous outfit? You -- of course!

  2. I'd have a lot of trouble coming up with jeans-based outfits for a week ... Knowing you, though, your outfits will be as varied as ever. I'm loving the crushed velvet top and velvet blazer (so much velvetness going on!), but I'm hearing you on the stickiness of the synthetic velvet material. That stone bracelet is fab! xxx

    1. Yes, it's been a challenge for me! I have had many denim pieces over the years (vests, dresses, shirts, skirts, pants) but very few right now, just enough to do a work week. Thank you! You can never have too much velvet. Isn't the bracelet lovely?

  3. I love the velvet on velvet, even if it was a bit annoying with your walk to and from work! I bought a velvet belt and I was feeling like I'd taken a dip into the velvet, but all the velvet you've been wearing lately has me thinking if I should try a bigger piece! My friend has some gorgeous velvet pieces!

  7. lovely color combo, I like how the colors in the shoes resemble the burgundy, grey and pale blue of your clothes, and your bracelet is stunning, love it!!!
I totally hate when my skirt goes up and around as I walk and I have to put it in place every few steps to don't show my undies! argh!

    1. Thank you! The bracelet is amazing in person - so many different stones. Ugh, "clothing creep" is the worst! I've had skirts that totally spin around and ride up.

  8. I like this slouchy dressing down look. Velvet and denim are cool together and these shoes are the best mix of comfort and style. Go Sheila!
