Spring White and the Whale

It was rainy and gloomy for most of today, so what the heck, I'm wearing white!
There are summer whites and winter whites, but no autumn or spring whites. Why is that?

  • Sweater - C. Wonder, thrifted; last seen here in August 2017 for a trip to the dentist
  • Skirt - Angel Eye, consignment, Vancouver; purchased here for $23.99 (and it was new with tags on!)
  • Shoes - Zoomies Ishshoes, Fluevog; purchased here in March for our anniversary
  • Coat (below) - Danier Leather; last seen here on Tuesday

I had positive comments on this outfit, with several fans of the skirt.
It's a whale of a skirt; the pattern, texture and bright optic white really make a statement. From the bottom down, I look a bit bridal, ha!

A playful sweater makes it less so (I hope).
The skirt was lovely to wear, although it's a fairly stiff polyester (it's washable, very important with light colours). No pockets, though.

All bundled up for the rain and chill again.
I felt very springy in this, in spite of the rain.

  • Fedora - Edward Mann, vintage, thrifted
  • Scarf - Story of Shanghai, thrifted
  • Gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
When I bought these white shoes and the white skirt (one day apart, in Vancouver), I knew I would put them together. I'm excited to do more outfits with these shoes - they were fabulously comfy and there's not a mark on them from the sole - yay!

Silver bling:
Some of my favourite steel pieces back!

  • Cage cuff - Bauxo
  • Steel cuff - thrifted
  • Earrings - gift from Megan Mae
  • Shield ring - Nine West
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

I'm out after work tomorrow, and I have many plans this weekend (including a baby shower - ack!), so swing by in a few days for my Bigass Weekend Wrap-Up! Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

  1. That's such a beautiful skirt, and I love that fun knit with it! It's very spring-like, and definitely not too bridal-like! :) Hope you have a wonderful weekend Sheila!

  2. Natural, pretty outfit. Of course you get compliments: you ought to be used to that by now!

Which is a topic I'd like to discuss with you next week: how others view and respond to your bold fashion choices and how you react to them. As a shy person who usually dresses in a way that doesn't draw attention, I don't have your frequent experience of being looked at. I'm very curious what happens when you do your thing in real life.

    1. I actually don't get that many compliments - my coworkers are all used to how I dress. You will get to see me in person so soon!

  3. Are the heels of the shoes kinda marbled? It looks like there is some black of gray swirled in.

    1. Yes, they're grey marbled - it's more pronounced in real life.

  4. Great to see the shoes in rotation with this fabulous outfit of swishy skirt and a whale of a top (groan). It does feel like spring, doesn't it? Hurray!

  5. You're looking fab in your swishy skirt and whale top, and those shoes are real works of art. Those soles are just divine. I have a confession to make: I love white on everyone else but me. The only white items of clothing I own have prints, I have nothing in plain white. I think it's a kind of phobia I have. Plus I'm way to messy to wear plain white ... Oh, and that cage cuff is fab! xxx

    1. Really? No white for you? I was quite off it myself for a long time, but I've come around. Thank you!

I'm with Ann, I like white on other people but on me it feels so wrong! xxx

    1. Maybe you just haven't found the "right" white yet, Vix!

  9. Glad to see you wearing a springy outfit, you look like a ray of sunshine!, so lovely skirt, a statement piece with a fab shape and texture, and also lovely shoes. As usual, your shoes deserve all the compliments, they rock!!
I'm not a huge fan of white color (near my face), but I like it anyway. I feel encouraged to wear white and orange asap, even in the middle of our rainy (and snowy) weather.

    1. Thank you! It's still not quite spring here yet, but white helps. I hope it gets nicer where you are!
