Green and Orange Jungle, and the Forgotten Cat

I'm getting more colourful as the week goes on, it seems.
I built this outfit around the new-to-me skirt, pulling out colours in it for basics and for pops of brightness. Guess which is which!

  • Blazer - GIEFFEFFE by Gianfranco Ferre, vintage 90s; first worn here in March with glitter shoes
  • Sleeveless sweater - Eileen Fisher, thrifted; first seen here in February with stripes
  • Skirt - Linea Domani, thrifted; purchased here for $8.00
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog; last seen here in March with a matchy belt
  • Leather trenchcoat, vintage 70s, thrifted; last worn here in March

I like that my outfit was cheap: the jacket ($4.50), the sweater ($6.00), the skirt ($8.00) and the necklace ($5.00) totals $23.50.
Naturally, the shoes and the jewelry cost the most. Spend money on shoes and jewelry!

I loved wearing this lovely bottle-green jacket again.
A longer-length blazer feels fresh to me now.

I really liked the skirt. Win!
It has great colours in it - I chose to highlight the greens in the jungle pattern, and pop the oranges. It's not quite a spring/summer look, but then, it's been raining all day. I'm not feeling very summery.

Outerwear - this is my rain gear. I got soaked on my 20-minute walk home, but my hat held up well, and this fab leather trenchcoat can take anything I throw at it.
Gloves (impractically thin, but matched so well), and a wooly warm scarf (needed).

  • Gloves - vintage, thrifted
  • Scarf - Smoking Lily

The stuff:
John Fluevog, please bring this colour of waxed canvas back! These shoes are getting worn out, and I'd like another pair. I do have these in yellow, copper and lilac/mango too. When I like a shoe, I really like a shoe!

Bright bling:
My "jello-shot" necklace is back. Are big statement necklaces still a thing or is that "so 2015"? Do I care?

  • Necklace - Banana Republic, consignment
  • Ear-balls - Dior
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Jade/bronze ring - vintage 70s, Mom's

I realized yesterday that I'd missed adding two pictures to my closet swap-over post! So here there are. This is what Vizzini does when the vacuum cleaner is out.
"I'm keeping warm, Woman."
He's burrowed under our duvet on the bed, and is a warm little furry lump under there.
"You better keep your shoes safe from me."
He's been very cranky the last few days - the warmer temps means time to shed his winter fur. I brush him frequently, which he loves.

  1. Pretty skirt. My cats also used to hide when I vacuumed.

  2. Vizzini is so cute hiding! :)

I love how all of the colours in your outfit work so well together too - I need to be bolder, when I pick a colour out of a print I stick to one or maybe two, but all of these work well!

  3. When Stephen goes over the covers like Vizzini we say that he's gone camping. He hates the hairdryer and the bin men - we don't own a vacuum cleaner!
That skirt is the epitome of spring and the orange shoes are so cheerful. I don't know about you but all my necklaces make a statement, - no point in wearing titchy jewellery that nobody notices - in fashion or not! xxx

    1. LOL, I love that - I'm going to steal it. Vizzini also hates seagulls.

Thank you! Yes, I'm not very bothered by delicate jewelry. Bo-ring.

  4. lovely skirt, I do love its print, and those shoes totally rock, I understand that you had to get them in assorted colors!
A vacuum cleaner probably sounds and looks like an evil monster if you're a cat (or dog!). My flatmate's cat was used to hide even when we mopped the floor!

  5. I love this outfit, Sheila! I love the pattern of the skirt and the orange and green combo. The shoes are fab and I absolutely love your "jello-shot" necklace! Aw, poor little Vizzini hiding under the covers! So cute! Amber used to hide too, but lately she's started venturing out while the vacuum is on and hissing at it! She gets all fluffed up too! She's getting feisty in her old age! ;) XXX

  6. I love the outfit! I just wish I had half of the talent to put a look together. I get so caught in ruts when it comes to clothing and then end up taking the least path of resistance. Love the colour palate.

  7. The skirt is fabulous and I love the pops of orange. I need orange shoes! I'm also loving the necklace which looks good enough to eat! Phoebe hates the vacuum cleaner, and she also hates being brushed. Meanwhile, she too is shedding hair like there's no tomorrow. Which means getting out the vacuum cleaner ... Etc. Cats! xxx

    1. It's a nice timeless print, I think. Orange shoes are a wardrobe staple (I have two pairs!). That's a vicious cycle of cat, there.

  8. I love how you can put so many different outfits together with such style! Your closet is amazing and it is giving me ideas for my own. We have a local Antique Mall that I shop at and I found plastic bags FULL of vintage jewelry for $6.00. I bought 3 bags and came home and had a blast going through it all. I got some great jewelry and the whole time I was thinking how I could use them in my outfits like you do. Thanks for all the inspiration you give me!

  10. Sylvester hides when the vacuum comes out too! I recently got a Miele vacuum, which is much quieter than my old Hoover upright but he still hides under the bed.

I really like this outfit - very chic professional! Not colours I wear, but I like them together.
