Best Blue Dress

Happy long weekend, everyone! I've got a busy weekend planned, including a bunch of people coming over to our pad tonight for a wee hang-out, so let's get 'er done.

Blue dress!
I think this is possibly the best blue dress I've ever owned. Love!

  • Dress - Nanette Lepore, thrifted; purchased here for $26.00 last weekend in Vancouver with Melanie!
  • Shoes - Chie Mihara; last worn here in January 2017 with dramatic red
  • Coat (below) - Stop Staring!, thrifted; last seen here a couple of weeks ago

It's a gorgeous cut, very flattering on me, totally comfy and just a lovely material.
It gets a 9/10, deducting one for lack of pockets. Not a deal-breaker.

This is probably about the 6th blue dress in this colour over my whole life, and this is easily my favourite.
It looks really great when I'm walking and moving around - I got lots of compliments on it.  The slit was a bit on the high side when I was sitting down, but I just tucked the sides around my leg and voila!

The fabric is sheer, light and flowy, with rows of 3D "ribbons" in satin - it's lined in shiny blue, aside from the sleeves - you can see the sheerness near the hem in some of these pictures.
I have to factor my tattoos in when I wear something like this - the rich colour sets them off nicely.

Outerwear - since I had the 40s vibe going on, I went with the swingy dress and fedora.
Matchy blue! You could see glimpses of my dress as I walked to work, and to my WW meeting after. My group loved this outfit on me.

I felt sassy.
 Well, hello there.

  • Hat - vintage, thrifted
  • Gloves - vintage, thrifted
  • Scarf - thrifted

The stuff:
Since our move, my job involves less walking - these shoes were quite good for a full 8-hour day plus a couple hours at WW. I not surprised that I didn't wear them until now this season - that is an intimidating heel, even with the hidden platform in front. But they are so pretty!

Circular bling:
I liked how the lighter-coloured accessories popped off the dress.

  • Belt - vintage 60s, Mom's
  • Cuff - thrifted
  • Bracelet - Lia Sophia
  • Earrings - vintage fair
  • Lapis lazuli ring and Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

A very Happy Easter and long weekend to everyone! I'll be back on Sunday with tales of adventure - and my spring/summer closet swap-over!

  5. Wow, Sheila, you do look amazing! That dress is just fabulous on you. You do so suit this colour, and never mind the slit: I wouldn't mind showing off my legs if they were as fabulous as yours (but, alas!). I love the addition of the chain belt and earrings. Your shoes are to die for (big, big swoon), and you do look sassy in your wonderful coat and fedora! Have a wonderful Easter weekend! xxx P.S. Shall have to book a trip to Amsterdam when the Fluevog opens. Maybe they'll come to Antwerp one day? xxx

  7. Wow, what a pretty dress. I admire Lepore's designs. Never expected to find one at a thrift-store -- but if any skilled shopper can, it's you!
