Klassy French Prints

I felt very classy today, but deep down, I am a silly person. When I say "classy", I say it with a "k"and I'm in my half-Mag Wildwood*, half-Mrs. Roper** mode.
Both my floral jacket and my polka print skirt are made in France, so you know: KLASSY.

  • Jacket - Kenzo Jungle, c. 90s, thrifted; purchased here for $39.99
  • Sleeveless sweater - Gap, thrifted; last seen here last week with pink, purple and pagodas
  • Skirt - Pierre Cardin, vintage 60s, vintage store; last worn here in April with all the silks
  • Shoes - Effortless Vivian, Fluevog; last seen here in June with the eyeball dress

*Mag Wildwood is a character in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (my favourite movie of all time) - YouTube clip here, you'll know which one she is!
**Mrs. Roper is a fashion icon from the 70s sitcom "Three's Company" - do an image search on her. She reminds me strongly of my paternal grandmother, aka Grandma J, whose jewelry I often wear

Silliness aside, I loved the feel and the quality of both of these beautiful pieces. The jacket was a pleasure to wear - the linen blend was totally breathable and so very soft.
A slight shoulder pad, but not too dated looking. I am grateful to the 90s for calming that trend down!

Here it is done up - it has a very tiny waist and I love how it just nips in tight there.
The skirt is one of the nicest pieces I own, but very delicate - I have to be really careful how I sit in it and not to lurch around at work (as I am wont to do). I was reminded of this becauseI had to do a repair on it this week; last time I wore it, I'd ripped the stitching at the top of the split at the back. I am very glad I learned to hand-sew from my mom when I was a kid - it was easy to put lots of little tiny stitches in and fix it right away with some red thread. I've done lots of little repairs here and there on my own clothes over the years - I'm very handy!

The stuff:
I like that the floral of the jacket has baby blue in it - I have got that covered accessory-wise! These shoes continue to be awesome, and the leather is softening up some. I did wear nylons today to keep my feet blister free.

Blue bling:
Although I have blue earrings that match the set, I chose the pearls to echo the dots in the skirt.

  • Necklace - vintage 60s, vintage fair
  • Bracelet - Coro, vintage 60s, thrifted
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

  3. I like the florals and polka dots together! And for what it's worth, I think classiness without the silliness is awfully boring! :) I enjoy reading your blog as I think we would get along wonderfully if we were to meet in real life.

  6. I agree, if it is French, then it is Klassy indeed!
Love the red dot skirt, and I adore baby blue with red, an odd favorite, but there it is.
    Gorgeous blazer, too!

  7. Yup, Klassy would be right. That tiny nipped in waist is wonderful, and it can't just be the jacket!

I too learned to hand sew when I was young and it's a great skill to have. I've tried to teach my daughter but she's not keen - would rather just send her mending home to me.

    1. I'm sucking my waist in, ha! I'm fortunate to be built like that. Hand-sewing is a lost art!

  9. Very klassy indeed. You have a tiny waist if you can do up a Kenzo (fab brand) jacket. And it shows. I learned how to sew and stitch as well. It is sooo handy. The bigger repair jobs I leave to the seamstress. Mainly because I am lazy.

    1. I can do it if I suck in my stomach, ha! I'm also hugely lazy - I can't be bothered to fix most things.
