Shades of Wine and Roses

I'm home late tonight, after hosting my company's "Women of X" dinner (where X is my company). Because we are all in IT, it's good for us to get together sometimes and get to know each other!
I was very happy with the colours in my outfit today. Take a good look, because those are the correct colours above. We are getting into the "none of the colours look right in the morning in this crappy light" part of the year.

  • Top - Edit by Jeanne Bekker, consignment; last seen here (2nd outfit) as my first outfit of the New Year in January
  • Skirt - no label, thrifted; purchased here for $6.00 in May during a dash to the thrift store with Lesley
  • Shoes - Queen Transcendent, Fluevog; last seen here as bookends of burgundy in January
  • Grape Ape coat (below) - Forever 21, thrifted; purchased here for $14.00 in September (and incorrectly noted as H&M, although I can see it's Forever 21 on the tag)

Burgundy faux leather fronted top, with merlot sleeves and back. The skirt is a dusty rose colour, and was a pleasure to wear.
I wore a full vintage slip underneath all of this for smoothing (no spanx for me!).

It was a bit chilly this morning, so I busted out the Grape Ape jacket (its new name!).
I was rather toasty by the time we all walked to the restaurant!

The stuff:
Fabulous shoes. They remind me of the Blogger meet-up in July 2015, when I bought them.

Floral and copper bling:
My roses necklace/crown/hat band pulled all the wine, purple and pinks together. It's like I planned it.

  • Necklace - local
  • Copper rings - various vintage expos, all vintage
  • Bronze ring - P. Sarpaneva, vintage 70s, vintage expo
  • Earrings - local

Okay, tired now.

  2. I love this top. In the first picture, it looks like a drop-waist dress in which the top is leather and the bottom is wool! LOVE!

Really enjoying your blog. As a fellow thrifter, I can really appreciate the magnitude of your finds. Super inspired. Thank you for all the work you put into this.

    1. Thanks, Ginna! I wasn't 100% when I bought it, but this is its second year in rotation, and it's been a trooper.

Thank you so much for reading! I love the treasure hunt of thrifting!

  3. Love this whole look; love the color and everything else...do you wear nylons or bare legs?..it is hard to wear tights with an outfit like this as it would take away the look..just wondered if your bare legged or very sheer pantyhose...looks lovely!! especially your fur!!! jacket!!!

    1. Thank you, Pam! I am wearing sheer nylons in this outfit - I used to do beige microfishnets, but the brand I bought (Hue) is discontinued. These are just drug-store Secret brand control tops. It's too cold for bare legs, plus I like the sleek look.

      Thank you!

  4. A brilliant outfit and the floral necklace is the piece de resistance. I also love the fur jacket. It's the one thing that has alluded me in the charity shops; I've been looking for a fur jacket fur coat for about two years now.

    1. I know, I hate this next 5-month stretch. Thank goodness for the outdoor shots, although those are also challenging once it's dark in the morning. Thanks, Princess!

    1. Nope, I can't stand that stuff. The closest I get is control top nylons/tights. Thanks, Anna!

  13. We both had very good finds that day in Vancouver, didn't we? Sweet memories. I still love my black and white booties. Much more than I expected. They are so good with the flared jeans. The outfit is outstanding. Great styling. Especially the roses are a terrific find to pull everything together. I always go for contrast, but this is much nicer.
