Funky Friday: Stripes and Buckles

Ah, the weekend, finally! It's been an awfully weird and long week, and I am looking forward to a) more tattoo work tomorrow and b) Winesday tomorrow night.
Today was about the Funky Friday - in stripes and buckles.

  • Sweater - Jones New York, consignment; purchased way back here in July for $42.98 (new with tags on with original price of $129.00, though!)
  • Suede skirt - Leifsdottir; first worn here in April when it crocked the heck out of my tights
  • Booties - Aldo, thrifted; first worn here (6th outfit) for Thanksgiving with all the colours
  • Coat (below) - Vassalli, thrifted

First wearing of this sweater and I loved it, as I knew I would. Thank goodness it's finally cool enough to wear it.

I was less enamoured of the skirt (again), as it rode up, picked up various stains and generally was a nuisance.
But I love the colour, so it stays. It also has buckles on the waist. I like buckles.

It's been dim and foggy in the mornings, and then clearing up for the rest of the day. I have to wear fairly light outerwear and scarf/gloves that can be stowed in my purse if needed.
The studded Danier gloves again; the scarf is my beloved real fur thing that I thrifted for cheap ($9.50?) a few years ago. I have to hide it from Vizzini, as he wants to lick it a lot.

The stuff:
I think of these as my Beatle boots. I need to take them to get re-heeled (along with a couple of summer pairs of shoes).

  • Leather/chain cuff - local
  • Earrings - 5th anniversary gift from L

Oops, forgot to do a "bling-only" picture. Oh, well, they aren't that exciting.

After work, I met up with Elaine for a drink and a little shop. I had about 20 minutes before I met her, so I popped into the WIN store. Can you believe I left the matching white/decorated leather vest behind in the store??
I sure did. I may be an adventurous dresser, but I know which piece is a keeper and which one is just dated and weird!

Yes, this is a white leather skirt, with sewn-on leather shapes to make some really bizarre-looking flowers.
And they are sewn on with gold thread. Look at the hemline! Can you believe this was $19.99? Depending on where you stand on adventurous dressing, that's either a bargain or money wasted (hee hee). No brand name (it was on the vest and I didn't write it down), so I need a name for this crazy skirt. Any ideas?

I'm off now till Sunday, when I will be back to show off my new tattoo!

  1. That skirt is unreal! I love it.

I was in yesterday for a full day of shading on my work-in-progress. Just about done with the black now. I feel a bit like a skinned knee today.

Post your photos, including your tattoo outfit! I started out in jeans yesterday, but my artist made me change into yoga pants straight off. So much for my (slightly) improved fashion effort.

    1. Thanks, Velma! Wow, a full day? How did you manage? I could only take 3 hours before I tapped out. I did, I did, post them! At least you tried!

    2. Clocked in at 5.5 hours--the longest session I've had. It was fine until the last few minutes. Outlining hurts much more than shading, in my mind. This really wasn't bad.

      Off to see your photos!

    3. It's when they start going over the areas that were just done an hour ago...eeee...that's when all the pain receptors kick in for me! You are a warrior woman!

  2. I really love those boots. A great outfit, and that appliquéd skirt is spectacular!

  3. I can't wait to see how you wear that skirt - it looks so fun! :)

I like your suede one too. Suede skirts were a big thing here over autumn/winter so there were a few in stores and a bunch on sale racks now. I'd love to get one but it might be a couple years off, since they are hard to clean aren't they? And toddlers are messy! Hope you managed to get the stains off yours.

    1. I'm excited to wear it. With suede, you can blot with a wet cloth, wait till it dries and try to brush the stain out. I don't know how this will clean - this skirt is a pain!

  4. Love your first outfit! The buckle boots and de-lsih delight! That skirt is an appliqued piece of heaven. What a score. A sure sign that higher powers are looking after your wardrobe!
Take god care of the new ink!

  5. The skirt may be named Lady Garden. Or not. This is definitely not money wasted. What a piece. What a conversation starter. Love it. Good luck with your ink on Sunday! Hope you have big treats afterwards.

  7. The skirt, the skirt, oh isn't it a little bit of heaven! You were right to leave the vest behind (someone may get really thrilled about it, you never know).
I have to double check - did you say the scarf is REAL fur? I thought amongst bloggers this was not the done thing? As a newbie, I just had to check. I do have some real fur, but have it stashed away well under the fur police radar. Will I lose readers if I post it?

    1. The vest was just awful. I couldn't handle it - I hope it goes to a good home!

Yes, I wear real fur - most of the stuff I note as being fur is FUR, and I'll always note when something is faux fur (or it will be obvious). As I said in today's post, I wear leather and fur is just leather with hair - it's hypocritical to wear one and not the other. Most of my fur is thrifted, too, so may as well give the animal some love.

  8. That blue skirt sounds like a whole heap of trouble! It is very unusual and as for the white leather applique skirt I thought it was fantastic. It will be interesting to see how you style it...

    Have a great weekend

  9. Duuuude those boots. They remind me of the Fluevog boots I had. Also that skirt is incredible, even if it is troublesome.

  11. I think you did well leaving the vest for someone else to enjoy ;)
It would have been a bit too much ! I am looking forward to seeing you style this... and a name, well maybe the vestless skirt?

    1. Vestless skirt is good, but I think I am going with Lady Garden.
