Neutral Greys with Yellow Pops

These short weeks are the worst, but finally it's Friday!
Let us do a happy dance!

  • Dress - Elie Tahari, consignment; last seen here (somewhere around the 3rd outfit) for our annual trip to Vancouver in March
  • Shoes - Prepare Hi Steady, Fluevog; last worn here in June with a pointy-sleeved jacket

Today was quite busy and full of physical labour (my office supply order came in, including 4 boxes of paper - heavy!). Phew! I was glad when it was over.
Such an awesome dress. I love it.

The stuff:
Fabulous shoes, but my feet are now very tired.

Yellow bling:
They all have to be worn! All the yellow things!

  • Cuff - thrifted
  • Bakelite earrings - vintage fair

L is out tonight, and I'm chilling with Vizzini, so I did a wee browse at the WIN Warehouse store. Check this out!
Ack! My heart! It's a black satin duster tuxedo jacket!

Here it is on, so you can see it in all its awesomeness.
It has a split back (almost to the waist) and it's a little on the costume-y side, but I'm totally going to wear it and swoosh it around. Long jackets like this were last in style in the late 90s/early 00s (I had one from Fairweather), and they were not cheap (mine was around $75.00 back then). This one is by Le Chateau, but was only $17.95. Score! I already have an event in mind for this, but I'll probably wear it to work in the fall.

I also fell hard for this lilac shirt. However, I think it might be a nightshirt.
Big and baggy and ever so soft. It's by Ralph Lauren. Did Ralph Lauren ever make sleepwear?

It has initials on the pocket.
But tabs on the sleeves for rolling them up. So confusing. I might try to fake it as a really blouse-y top for work, but at $12.95 I'm quite happy if I end up sleeping in it too. Either way, this gorgeous colour is a win!

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends! I have something special planned tomorrow, which I will reveal on Sunday with my weekend wrap-up.

  1. I read something about the 'sleepwear trend' on youlookfab a few months ago: https://youlookfab.com/2016/03/17/trend-the-pajama-party/
Some of them I wouldn't wear outside (e.g. the ones that look exactly like pyjamas--so much so that they are just plain old pyjamas!), but that shirt you have would look great with a fitted bottom IMO. Great color.

Your printed dress is really nice too - the yellow is a fun accent colour with it :)

  3. Lovely grey dress with the yellow accessories - fab!

I loved the long jackets/duster coats in the 90s and 00s. I recently sent my last long cardigan to the charity shop as it was too small.

I hope you get a lot of pleasure out of long duster you have just bought. I'm sure RL does sleepwear that shirt/nightshirt is gorgeous. I bet it will lookamazing on.

  6. Stellar outfit! Mustard grey + yellow is a ravishing colour combination. I wear it frequently myself, too, sometimes with royal blue thrown into the mix as well.

    Big hugs,

  7. Such a perfectly sweet outfit today Sheila. The accent colour is a great trick, well played! That coat is amazing (be still my beating heart!) and you will be the star of the show in whatever you have planned for its debut. And what class to sleep in that nightshirt baby x
