Grey and Turquoise and a Boob Window

This coming weekend is a long weekend here in the province of British Columbia (aka BC, and nothing at all to with Britain or Columbia, just to be super-confusing!). Monday's a stat holiday for BC Day! We're celebrating nothing, other than we get a long weekend! Yay!
And here I am, all sedate in grey. My WW receptionist, Betty, commented that she didn't think she'd ever seen me in grey before, but it's a colour I'm warming up to.

  • Dress - Lav & Kush, consignment; purchased here for...oh, I forgot to note it (roots around in the recycling). It was $24.98.
  • Shoes - Prepare Guide, Fluevog; last worn here in May with a yellow princess dress

I like that the boob window (that's a technical term, I'm sure, ha!) is not too low. Fiona suggested that I put googly eyes in it - wouldn't that be hilarious?

I did love wearing this all day - it was hot, and this hemp/plastic bottle dress breathed wonderfully.
"Open this door or I'll eat your shoes."
It did wrinkle quite a bit from sitting at my desk, but it's in the wash now and voila! My lovely steamer will make short work of any creases.

The stuff:
Such a lovely shade of turquoise. I adore these shoes.

Turquoise bling:
Must. Wear. All. Of it.

  • Cuff - Shi Studios
  • Ring/earrings - local

I will be back on Monday with my weekend wrap-up - have yourselves a fabulous weekend, long or not!

  1. LOLOL...I have a dress with a similar 'window'. I will forever refer to it as a boob window now. Grey and turquoise....so beautiful together. I'm all about colour, but I've worn a grey-ish dress with turquoise and loved it!

    Have a great long weekend!

    1. With my hair, I'm more conscious of not overpowering the outfit - neutrals can be useful, who knew? Enjoy the weekend, dear Sue!

    1. Thanks so much, Jodi! Aw, you are a doll - all I see are my varicose veins, bruises and scars! Happy long weekend!

  3. Sheila, you'll never be "sedate" in anything! You look fabulous in this outfit - hemp and recycled plastic (I have an amazing recycled plastic bottle shopping bag which lives and lives again, is soft and strong, so I imagine your dress is similar??). Those shoes are amazing - both colour and style - turquoise is the perfect partner for this soft grey (and of course your fabulous hair). xx

    1. The dress is actually a bit of a crinkly stiff texture, a bit like raw silk or stiff linen - we'll see how it comes out when I wash it, if it softens up. Thank you so much - I know, I'm rarely sedate, ha ha!

    2. By the way, it got even softer when I washed it!

  4. I like the grey and turquoise together! :) I have an awful lot of grey in my wardrobe, as it just pairs so easily with blue. I had a giggle at 'boob window', don't know it's proper name either but you described it well, haha.

    Enjoy your long weekend!

    1. I was watching a show last night and a woman was wearing a dress with a cutout in that area, and both L and I said, "boob window!" Thanks, Mica!

  5. Yes, brace yourself - I too just bought a grey suit! I'm warming up to that non-colour. This dress is stunning on you, great fit, and the turquoise is perfect. Your shoes are a favourite. I think the official name is boobular window. Heh. Have a great long weekend! I'll try to hold the fort over here too.

  6. I really like this outfit. The grey dress is elegant and yet unexpected (with the boob window) and the shoes are elegant and yet unexpected. Those turquoise shoes are perhaps my favorite you own--sorry, L. :)

  7. I think you rock the gray, Sheila - and of course the teal shoes remind us of who we are admiring here! You look terrific. xo

  8. If it isn't a term, I saw we officially indoctrinate it into the fashion dictionary as one. :)

Great colour palette at work here. It makes me think of some of the hues that have been dancing around the sky lately during all the summer storms and rainy days we've been having here in the Okanagan in recent months (I really hope you guys have been experiencing a drier spring + summer on the Island).

Wearing all the turquoise is never a bad thing. It's such an invigorating, cheerful hue (and it looks tops on you, may I add).

Big hugs & joyful long weekend wishes,
    ♥ Jessica

    1. Yes, it's a term now, anyways! We've had a real mixed bag of weather here all summer, not like last year, plenty of rain and clouds. Thank you, Jessica!

  9. Mmmm, am loving grey too at the moment. Feels very grown up and elegant don't you think? And turquoise is the perfect foil for it. Superb play modom!

Oh and I chuckled at "boob window"

  11. I tend to call that design feature "Peek-a-boob." Not original to me, but I can't think where I first saw it in print.

    1. Oh, I like that too! You can take full credit - I've never heard "peek-a-boob" before.

  12. I have a lot of grey in my summer wardrobe, which I like because it goes beautifully with so many other colours, and isn't as harsh as black (which I'm trying to wean myself away from). The colour looks great with your hair!
