Pre-Scrunched and All the Colours

This is a weird week - I was positive it was Wednesday all day today, and I keep thinking tomorrow is Thursday.
I'm sure it'll be worse tomorrow - I'm in for a late night.

  • Jacket - Suzy Shier, thrifted; purchased here for $6.00
  • Dress - AJ Bari for Neiman Marcus, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here a year ago with tangerine
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog; last seen here (2nd grey lace outfit) a couple of weeks ago

"I don't want to be in your picture."
I felt so happy wearing this lovely strapless dress again! I am shocked that it's been over a year since it was last worn, but oh, well. So many clothes, so little time! I love it, though - all the colours!

This is the first wearing of my little blue jacket.
It's surprisingly well-made for a Suzy Shier (similar to Forever 21, but a Canadian mall chain) item: fully-lined, real pockets, nice blue piping on the inside. I also adore that the sleeves have elastic sewn into the seam to make them easier to keep shoved up at my elbows. Who doesn't love a pre-scrunched sleeve?

The stuff:
A bit of a jumble of colours but I liked how they all went with the dress.

Rainbow bling:
The belt is barely visible, but handy for hanging my keys on.

  • Belt - Nygard
  • Wrist wrap - local
  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Earrings - Stella & Dot, consignment
  • Lapis lazuli/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

Why a late night? Because L and I bought tickets months ago to see case/lang/veirs, a "supergroup" made up of kd lang, Neko Case and Laura Veirs! I'm totally excited! Link here (warning: autoplay music) 'cause I love. Lots of tour dates there, through Canada and the US!

I'll be back tomorrow night with my concert outfit (I'm changing into something more comfortable) and some pictures.

  1. Another success: this look is brilliant, Sheila!

I can't help but ask, given your strapless outing here in a season when strapless/off-the-shoulder is simply EVerywhere: do you have any strapless bra tips? I swear I've never had one that worked well …

Thanks again for the inspiration, girl!

    1. Thanks, Sherry! I actually wore a regular bra with this dress (this time) and never took the jacket off. However, I finally bit and went to a fancy lingerie boutique and bought a really good (and expensive) strapless bra. I am done with cheap ones that don't stay up!

  2. I love a scrunched sleeve - and an orange shoe! Great look, and don't listen to V - he wants in the picture, for sure. xox

  3. I'm equally discombobulated. I think it comes from Summer weekends when we're busier than usual and our routine gets twisted. Plus, we (down here) are leaving work early this week to start our July 4th holiday celebration. Do Canadian's find an excuse to take off work in the Summer to sit outside, drink beer and eat hot dogs? :-)

    1. Oh, heck yes, Friday is Canada Day! You will see some of the insanity we do when I post on Sunday!

  4. Must be something going on as I thought that Tuesday was Wednesday this week too! I am always pushing the sleeves of my jackets up, so a "pre-scrunched" sleeve is awesome. The dress is gorgeous, and you could wear it with jackets in every colour of the rainbow.

  5. Lovely colors - and I own two Suzy Shier jackets, which are really well made for the price tag.
It´s been a hard week at work ... a co worker who I am really fond off was send home :(

  7. I knew that blue jacket would look fabulous on you - and it does! Pre scrunched sleeves should be compulsory on all sleeves - I have short arms and always push my sleeves up. I love the dress and shoes. Such a good colour combination, blue and orange.

  8. This is such an adorable outfit Sheila. I too, love all of the colours of the dress and think it's a great fit on you. The jacket is cute, and of course the orange Fluevogs are the perfect finish! A round of applause for a perfect outfit x

  9. Oh no, the dreaded day-stolen-from-the-imagination! It's not so bad when you think a weekday is a weekend day. This dress is madly fantastic. When you have so many outstanding clothes it's hard to give them all the outings you want.

  10. Such an awesome, eye-catching, lively colour palette. I seriously adore this outfit and orange shoes were the perfect finishing touch.
