Casual Friday: Sweaters on the Slate

Happy long weekend Friday, my friends!
"And I hear the timer about to go...there."
I had posing issues today.

  • Sweater - Vero Moda, thrifted; purchased here last weekend for $12.50
  • Skirt - Theo Miles, thrifted; also purchased here last weekend, for $4.00
  • Boots - Prepare Guide, Fluevog; last seen here in May with a backless dress

Okay, that's better - I'm not flashing my hoo-ha to all and sundry! This wrap skirt looks best when one is just standing, and of course, like any wrap-around skirt, it gapes open when one walks.
I wore a vintage half-slip under it. It was lovely to wear otherwise - it's a 50/50 lambswool and acrylic knit and totally took me back to my French blue knit tube skirt that I had back in the mid-80s. Everything comes around again!

First wearing of this lovely marled slate grey sweater - I really liked the shape and the comfort of it. It's a bit hard to see in these pictures, but the hemline dips down in the back.
I had very strong positive reactions at work to this outfit - and I felt badass and rock & roll, so that was a plus.

The stuff:
I totally forgot that I have had these boots out all spring/summer! They were buried under my crinoline (which Vizzini always tries to sleep on). I wouldn't have worn them in all the hot weather we've had, but they were perfect for a gloomy and chilly morning.

Badass bling:
And as you might have guessed from the brightness of my "stuff" pictures, it got sunny and warm this afternoon! Huzzah!

  • Necklace - The Bay several years ago
  • Cuff - thrifted
  • Earrings - local
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

L and I are off to Vero's birthday party tonight - I have a killer outfit planned, so pop by on Monday and I'll tell ya all about it. In fact, I do believe Visible Mondays starts up again this Sunday at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style, so be there or be...rectangular! I will see you there!

  1. Love your blooped photo! A slip saves the day too. Yes, I dressed warmly and then regretted it. Plus, I had worn a top backwards and didn't want to take off my coat. Haha. I look forward to seeing your Monday wrapup. Party-wear, yeeesh.

  2. Without your trademark pose, I thought I'd stumbled onto someone else's blog!

  3. I have to say that the blooper photo gave us a lovely view of the top of your head and the great purple color your hair has. I don't think we've seen it from that angle yet. It looks beautiful, like anime hair.

  4. Looking forward to your upcoming birthday party outfit, although I'm loving this one!
It's the kind of thing I'd wear if only I could find a nice wrap around maxi skirt like that. And I'd probably wear it with flats because I'm still suffering with my knee injury, but otherwise, I'd be recreating this! Good kind of early spring like weather for it too!

I had a giggle at your comment on my latest post - and completely agree. Perhaps in my early teens I would have worn such short 'dresses', but they are definitely tunic length now, haha! :)

  9. You must be having cooler weather than we are - I would die from heat stroke if I wore a sweater, long skirt, and boots this week. It's been soooo hot, and I'm soooo sick of my summer clothes. Can't wait til it's boot and jacket weather here.
