Stripes On Stripes

Wow, it totally feels like Monday. I hate mid-week holidays.
Not that I'm sneezing at having a day off - it's just hard to get back into the groove. I worked late tonight too (newsletter time), so I'm just exhausted. I put in a nearly 12-hour day.

But I looked fabulous! I adore this stripey dress! It was freezing (but clear) today and I was so happy to have double-knit 70s polyester to keep me snuggly warm.

  • Dress - no label, 70s vintage, thrifted; purchased just this past weekend here, for $17.99
  • Shoes - Qtee Minis, Fluevog, consignment; last seen here on New Year's Eve, with my best accessory - L!

I suppose I could have just done black tights, but where's the fun in that?
When you have striped tights and a striped dress, it's like it was meant to be!

The stuff:
Mixing eras with my bigass 80s belt there. I love these shoes,

Black and silver bling:
I didn't want the accessories to fight with the simplicity of the dress too much.

  • Belt - vintage 80s, vintage fair
  • Cuff - Guess, thrifted
  • Spinner ring - local
  • Shield ring - Nine West
  • Artsy ring - POLY, vintage fair
  • Earrings - Aldo Accessories

And now...dinner! Is it the weekend, yet?

  1. Love the stripe on stripes look! I used to have a similar pair of striped tights (they got a hole in them quickly sadly!) and I was never this adventurous with them. A missed opportunity!

  2. The striped tights are genius--plain black would be rather ho-hum don't you think? Love your creative style!

  3. Why, oh WHY can't SOMEone start making these simple knit dresses again? Of course I had a couple of the "first run" ones in the 60's and 70's but of course got rid of them long ago....NOT THAT THEY'D EVER FIT ME NOW! Just think of all the ways to re-fashion such a tog! And, of course, YOU accessorized and wore your striped dress beautifully!

  6. Absolutely, you wear this the coolest way, stripes with stripes. Love that. Sheesh, you work long hours. I hope they appreciate you BIG TIME! The office would deflate if you weren't there.

  8. YES! that is the way to wear it :)
The dress looks amazing and a first wear with those tights was the right choice.
Get yourself some rest this weekend, its well deserved.

  9. Love the horizontal/vertical stripe thing. I like those heavier knit dresses that hugged your body, but had enough substance to smooth you out, unlike the cheap, ridiculously thin ones that are made now.
