Sneaky Ships - and 70s Party!

After tonight's windstorm, we had another day of torrential rains. I was fortunate enough to miss the rain both on my walk to and from work - lucky me!

I was pawing around in my "new" closet last night and wondering what to wear (choices!) when I realized I'd missed putting away one of my summer items - holy ship!
I had matched up this dress with the blazer and then not seen it when I pulled all the summery items out. Ah well, another wear before I wash it and put it away for 6 months. I last wore the ship dress back in June (4th outfit, here) on L's birthday weekend - and now it's MY birthday coming up!

And speaking of my birthday, just like last year, I'd love it if y'all would join me in dressing up this weekend for my party. We're having a 70s-themed party, so by all means, be "on theme"! Send me your picture of you in your party finery, or drop me a comment with a link to your post, and I'll include your picture in the Sunday round-up.
And back to this. The blazer is my lovely Etro, last worn way back here in March (I don't wear a lot of thick blazers over the summer). It's weird seeing myself as a blonde!
"Please stay home and snuggle with me."
I'm wearing a full vintage slip in a navy blue - that's what's hanging out at the bottom of the dress.

The stuff:
Ah, boots. I was going to say that these are my favourite red boots, but I actually have two other pairs of red boots. That's not at all excessive, is it? I thought not.

I last wore these in March here with orange and houndstooth.

Vintage bling:
I'm trying to incorporate all my new-to-me vintage finds from the weekend into my outfits this week. Today, I wore the Trifari bracelet with my grandmother's Lisner necklace. They are about the same era (late 50s/early 60s).

Blazer (Etro, consignment), dress (Smoking Lily), belt (Club Monaco, thrifted), boots (Miz Mooz), necklace (Lisner, vintage 50s/60s, Grandma J's), bracelet (Trifari, vintage 50s/60s), ring (POLY, thrifted), spinner ring (Twang & Pearl).

  1. That dress is so nice with the blazer, I'm glad you got one last wear before it's packed away for the season! :)

Would love to take part in your virtual party - I wonder if I could pull off a 70s outfit for work on casual Friday? The weekend would be a great time to play with it, but I'm going away.

  2. Spare the dress, Sheila - you could wear that layered up all through autumn and winter, it's such a treasure! Loving the red boots and the jewellery. I say that a lot - but it's true! xxxx

  4. How much do I love this blazer with this dress??? This is a great look - I love the structured feel of a blazer with a slightly more fitted dress. Fabulous.

  5. Perfect dress for so many occasions, and SO BEAUTIFUL on you ... imagine you wear it fifty different ways. Lovely for early fall .... are you sure you want to put it away just yet. Red boots are so far from being "just boots" ... three is the legal minimum, isn't it?

  8. Beautiful dress (love the color) and really like the visible slip. Your "new" vintage bracelet looks fab with your grandmother's necklace.
