Mint Green, Ghost Grey and Tiger Stripes

Real spring has settled in finally: it's freezing cold in the mornings and lovely and warm by the afternoon.
So of course I wore wool and cashmere - of course!

This lovely mint green cashmere sweater was worn twice in the October 2012 capsule (recap here), making this its third wear. I have a thin vintage camisole on under it to keep everything nice and opaque.
The skirt is new-to-me and this is its first wear. I bought it back here in January at the Hospice Thrift Store for $2.00. Two dollars! That's awesome. It's by Bianca and is 100% wool, but it's a very thin summer-weight wool (not fuzzy or scratchy at all). You just touch it and you can feel it's quality.
It is quite high-waisted (with belt-loops) but otherwise a perfect fit on me. I'm sure it's from the 80s, as it's marked size 12. I used to have another grey skirt just like it, but it was a cheapy Le Chateau one that I got rid of years ago.

Thoughts? Tell me what you think of this skirt! I will be wearing it a couple more times to fully test it out. On the wearability and comfort side, so far it's positive.

The shoes:
My wonderful tiger-striped kitten heels, featured in the May 2012 capsule challenge (worn 5 times! recap here). That green trim never photographs the right colour.

And because I'm in a bit of a hurry, I can't be bothered to take my rings and stuff off to take a pictures, so you get my veiny hands.
New bracelet, honkin' green ring.

Spinner ring:
I usually wear a minimum of 4-5 rings. I wear my 3 gold ones daily, don't take them off (wedding ring, anniversary ring, vintage pinky ring). It's hard to find rings that are small enough for my fingers, so I end up wearing them on my index fingers.

Standard leaf earrings:
Since I lost one of my diamonds, I wear the matching hoop to the one L wears.

Sweater (Daniel Bishop, consignment), skirt (Bianca, vintage 80s, thrifted), shoes (Hale Bob), earrings (Plum), bracelet (About Tine), spinner ring (Twang & Pearl), green gem ring (consignment).

  1. I like it! It's a good basic skirt, if it is comfortable. You can definitely tell the construction of a well made summer weight wool. I keep finding pieces while thrifting, but never anything my size.

Love your rings! My fingers are so tiny, I had to go to a local jeweler just to get my tiny sized plain band.

  2. Jury's out on this one, for me, Sheila. Doesn't have your usual flare.
That being said, I know you talk of having some orphans in your closet that you have to hold onto, so it might be a great skirt to use them!

  3. That skirt would get a lot of wear since it's a nice neutral colour. It's kind of that awkward length though - not at the knee but not mid calf. Could you shorten it and still feel comfortable?

Love the honking big ring. I left for work today completely unadorned. No rings no necklace no earrings. I kinda feel naked.

  4. Both pieces are obviously good quality and smart and all that... but I've got to say (hope it's OK to do so) that this look is so much more conservative and safe than I am use to seeing on you. I don't get Essence of Sheila, even with the great shoes and jewellery. I think the skirt might need to be paired with a stronger oolour or print, or a more structured top/jacket. For me, just my opinion - you know that! You never look less than well put together, Sheila, you couldn't if you tried! xxx

  9. This is beautiful in every way, Sheila. I love the colors together and the clean, classic lines. And the green looks so pretty with your hair color.
I like the green and gold rings together. I have tiny fingers too and its hard to find them to fit.
My wedding ring is a size 3.75!

  10. A very nice, elegant and understated skirt, I'm sure it will come handy to pair with some statement items.

But I also think it could use a bit of shortening. You would look much better if it hit the knee.
