Jun 1st & 2nd - Outfits #1 & 2 - Neutral-O-Rama!

Happy June! And welcome to the first couple of days of rockin' the neutrals!

Without further ado, here's Friday's outfit.
It was a little cold and rainy in the morning, but it got sunny later on - this was the perfect combination of layers.

This is my new-to-me leopard cardigan that I bought on the same weekend as these silver gladiator sandals I'm wearing, in early May (here). The cardigan was $15.98 and the shoes were $19.00.

I added a pop of colour with a red camisole. None of my camisoles count as items in any of the capsules, as they are strictly layering pieces. If I don't wear an item on its own, it doesn't count, period.
These are my oh-so-awesome sailor pants that I bought in April 2010 (here). They're Noa Noa and were purchased on deep discount at Dots for $31.99. I've previously worn them here (June 2010), here (August 2010) and here (3rd outfit) in April 2011. Sadly, I think it has indeed been over a year since I last wore these!

I love the fit of them:
They make my butt look good. Hee. I have a very tough time finding pants that fit me perfectly, so I'm glad these are in this month's capsule. Maybe I'll fall in love with them all over again.

I did both of my black leather rocker cuffs with this look. Neutrals work well with my leather accessories, so I expect I'll be wearing them a fair bit this month.

As it was cold, I also wore my yellow leather jacket - more colour!
It matched my yellow toenails.

Cardigan (XXI, consignment), cami (Smart Set?), pants (Noa Noa), shoes (Enzo Angiolini, consignment), jacket (Danier Leather).

Today, I went to my WW meeting in the morning, then did a little bit of shopping, and bought food for the party tonight.
This wrap-around cardigan is another Noa Noa piece, from the same era as the pants (first worn here in April 2010). Dots had one great season of Noa Noa, and I bought most of my pieces then, in the spring of 2010 - this was $19.99. I previously wore it here (July 2010), and here (November 2011). Again, not really getting good cost per wear out of this piece!

Just like with the red camisole, this turquoise one doesn't count. It's not so hard to slip colour in when you wear camis for layering!
I also added my turquoise leather Shi Studio wrist-wrap (picture here), and a new pair of earrings that I bought yesterday.

This is my wonderful Smoking Lily mullet skirt (the back is about 4 inches longer than the front) that I thrifted  here in June 2011 for $9.00. I'm deeply disappointed in myself: I've only worn this once!
It's so swirly! I had to try to show the movement but it's all a blur. However, you can see the hand-screened pink lining on the inside of the hem. Just a teensy bit of colour.

It was slightly chilly so I wore my white leather jacket over top.
And lastly, those are my Kenneth Cole Reaction cork and patent leather wedges (picture here) that I bought on consignment in January 2011 for $59 (they were actually new, but I bought them in a consignment store) - I first wore them here in May 2011, and last wore them here (last outfit; they've been in storage since the end of September 2011). They got worn a lot last summer, so they are starting to show some wear and tear. This capsule challenge will probably actually save them for another year, since I'll be only wearing them for this month. Yay!

These are the blue earrings I bought yesterday.
I got them at Oscar & Libby's (for those of you who are local); the brand is Caracol and they were $9.00. They had them on other colours as well.

Cardigan (Noa Noa), cami (Esprit), skirt (Smoking Lily, thrifted), shoes (Kenneth Cole Reaction, consignment), earrings (Caracol), wrist-wrap (Shi Studios), jacket (Le Chateau, consignment).

I kind of felt like buying something new for my Wild Card outfit for L's birthday party tonight, but I didn't find anything in the thrift/consignment stores that I went to today that really grabbed me. I did, however, find this completely awesome Tommy Hilfiger jacket for $20.00:
I know, it's a little Herb Tarlek (for those of you not old enough to remember "WKRP in Cinncinnati" here's what I'm talking about), but the plaid colours are actually red, pink, pastel blue and mint green - this will fit right into my July capsule!

Anyway, I have a couple of ideas for my party outfit...but we'll see how it goes once I start playing in my closet. Anything could happen!

  3. Both outfits are wonderful. It's good to see you working those colourful camis into your capsules. The smoking lily skirt is so unique, it's not like any other smoking lily I've seen - great find!

  4. WKRP?? Hilarious. I can hear the music at the beginning. We use to record it and play it over and over. I have thought of that show before when I've seen a plaid blazer. But it's so cool! Uber cool they say. ;)
Your butt looks awesome in those white pants. I'm surprised your cat isn't batting at it. haha
