Challenge Week! Friday: The Casual Uniform

And we're done! Challenge Week is over, and thank you to everyone for your rockin' suggestions. I liked all of them, and I might do a special post in the next few days to show how some of them would look or my interpretation of them.

This is a long weekend (Thanksgiving) in Canada, and it being my birthday on Sunday, I took Tuesday and Wednesday off as well. So, I won't have as many posts next week, and I might need to shake it up and have fun on Monday. We'll see.

Anyway, today's winner is Christine Priem! She said, "I recommend your black & gray striped long-sleeved shirt with a burnout print tee on top (a while ago you had one that was watercolorish with a gray and black abstract design) with your orange denim skirt (if you still have it!) and tall black boots. I love how you layer tees!"

Well, I don't actually have this tee anymore, Christine (it was always a little tight in the boobs, so I gave it away to a friend), but I have everything else! Here you go: Gray striped tee, layered t-shirt (my Leonard Cohen "Beautiful Losers" tour shirt) - both worn together for the first time here, in 2009 - my orange cord skirt (third outfit down), and tall black boots.
I wear these boots all the time. I decided to do my over-the-knee socks with this outfit instead of tights. For one, that's a more "out there" look for me (especially now that I am nearly an old bag of 44, hee), and it's good to push the envelope that way. For another, I liked how the stripe on the sock echoed the stripes in the long-sleeved tee.

Wait, I need more cat with this ensemble!
Inigo was actually very lovey with me. He gives good snuggles. Vizzini wanted to join the party, but I can't hold both of them.

I added my leather python print jacket for my outerwear:
I last wore that jacket in February (2nd outfit down) - I can't believe I didn't wear it all spring! And my grey fingerless gloves. As you can see the danged socks slipped down really fast!

Christine, drop me an email and we'll start the conversation on what your prize will be from my closet! Thank you again for the awesome suggestion.

Jacket (Bebe, vintage, thrifted), long-sleeved tee (Majestic, swap from Caro), tee (Leonard Cohen tour shirt), skirt (Jacob Connexion, thrifted), socks (Steve Madden), boots (Aldo, consignment), belt (Gap), necklaces (Plum, Jacob, Lavishy).

I've loved the challenge week, tho' I couldn't think of anything to suggest. I'd just say "wear it all! I love it!" And, well, you did & do!

  2. Happy Birthday! Keep on stylin'!

I've kind of been out of the fashion loop lately - distracted by some poison ivy, gardening chores, and interesting homestyle finds...

I'll be back. Hopefully sooner rather than later :)

  9. That almost burnt orange with the grey, black and stripes is just phenomenal! hhmmm, i'm going to have to show this look to my husband - i think he'd rock this palette too!!

i just love it when you hold kitties and their tail is very 'engaged' and kind of feeling it's way through the air - it's hard to describe the feeling but it's a lot of fun!

I think this challenge week was just an utterly fabulous success!! I would not have thought it possible, but you have kicked it up a notch with the boost of your readers' inspiration. A great challenge idea on your part, great ideas from your readers, and beyond great looks!! Thank you and Congratulations to all the winning readers!

Rebecca, thank you! Good to see you. :)

Northmoon, I just put up another picture of him, just for you. :) Thank you! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

    Cara, I agree!

    Patti, thank you!

    Shooting star, thanks!

    Sal Kaye, thank you!

Style Crone, thank you so much!

Megan, thanks, it was a lot of fun to do. Thank you!

Steph, thank you! Yes, both of our cats' tails are extremely expressive. Inigo's shows when he is annoyed or pretending not to listen. Vizzini hasn't quite got the hang of it yet, but he likes to wrap his tail around our legs. Thank you for your feedback on the challenge! It was a lot of fun and definitely got me thinking about my wardrobe in a more creative way. Thanks!

    Thank you, Lorena!

    Erin, thanks!
