Dragon Lady in Red Shoes

So, as promised, today's outfit is a bit more dramatic:
I'd forgotten all about this top (last seen here, back in April 2010! Yikes!). This is the fourth wear of it (all iterations of it here), and considering I only paid $12 for it, I think I've gotten my money's worth. I love the dragon pattern on it.

The skirt is new-to-me; it was $7.50 in a thrift store. That's pretty good considering it's Bianca Nygard. It's a nice heavy cotton, that is a faux wraparound (it has buttons up one side). Lest you think it's just a boring old column of black, check out the rear slit:
And showing off my lovely Fluevog Listen Up Audreys (last seen here).

The outside shot:
The skirt also has a front slit! And it makes a flapping sound like sails when I walk. I love clothing with personality!

The stuff:
Those are the sweetest shiny red shoes!

A close-up:
My funky Shi Studio belt, my dad's ring and some old vintage earrings I bought about 16 years ago.

Top (Lhasa, thrifted), skirt (Biana Nygard, thrifted), belt (Shi Studio), shoes (Listen Up Audrey, Fluevog), ring (Dad's, vintage 50s), earrings (vintage 80s).

  2. That's a wonderfully rich color. I love that belt. It reminds me of something a royal/hero character might wear in an old fantasy movie. I think that top is my favorite mandarin collared top you have, it's subtle but you still have some dragons running around with you.

(Can you tell I've been hitting the books/old movies lately? Too much time on my hands)

  3. This is beautiful! I have two long black maxi skirts and neither has a slit. I wish they did.

  4. Wow!! Hot Sheila! :)
p.s. - Have you ever watched/read the "Girl with the dragon tattoo"? (Swedish movie/book series). This is what I thought when I saw your top! If you haven't, please watch those movies asap! (NOT the american version). Kisses gorgeous!

  6. So pretty I love that red and the belt is just perfect. There's one awesome thing about black maxi skirts I love, when my favorite one got too big and I donated it, it didn't take long to find a new one. And best feature of the new is a side slit that is oh so sexy! (Plus it a "travelers" version so I expect it will be great to travel with)

  7. Love your sense of style, I have one question. Where do you keep all of your clothes? How do you keep them organized? I have a condo too and just don't haven't the space!

  8. Dude. DUDE. I love that shirt - I would wear it OUT! So if you think it needs a new home... ;)

And it works perfectly with that skirt. Love the look!

  10. This is just gorgeous, Sheila. So elegant!

I was so sorry to hear about all the rioting in Vancouver last night. What a mess. It seems like it was all driven by a handful of hoodlums who went there looking to start trouble, too.

    Wendy, rar!

Megan, thanks. Yes, the belt is very much fantasy-themed. Ha, keep watching those movies!

    Terri, thank you!

Dimi, yes, I've read two of the books and seen all the original movies. Thanks, hon!

Patti, thank you! Slits are great for walking!

Thanks, Alison! Maxi skirts are so fun, but they have to be just right.

Thank you, Anonymous - check out the links to "My Closet" in my "Stuff about me" section in the sidebar.
