Seven Random Things About Me

Wow, two posts in one day!

The lovely Tanya at Ye Olde Socks tagged me for one of those award thingies - I'm not forwarding it on 'cause I don't do that (I give my Major Awards out once a year), but I do love to talk about me! Twist my rubber arm, ha!

So here are seven random things about me, in no particular order:

1. Two of my front teeth are fake. I fainted in the shower on Valentine's Day, 1985 (the morning of the Valentine's Day dance in Grade 12) and knocked them out on the edge of the tub. I went to the dance all hooped up on painkillers. I don't remember any of it.

2. I love being silly. I sing to my cats. I dance in my living room. I do goofy voices.

3. People who stop in the middle of the sidewalk annoy me. If you're going to have a chat with someone, move aside! People are comin' through!

4. I am a lip balm junkie. I have tubes of it in every room in the house. If you sit on any couch, there is a tube stuffed into the corner. Every coat has a Chapstick (actually, they are mostly Avon - thanks, Mom!) in the pocket.

5. I am still not sure what I want to be when I grow up. I'm not a career person - my work supports my real life. It's just a job. I make the best of it.

6. I haven't worn a watch in about 5 years. I hated being bound to the damned thing. I can always find out what time it is anyway, by asking someone, looking for clocks or checking the time on receipts if I buy something.

7. I hate cleaning. My mom always said that there were better things to do than cleaning your house. We keep the bathroom clean (by "we" I mean L), and I put things away. I'm organized, which is way different than being neat. My closet is organized, but there is dust on the shelves.

Fun! Thanks, Tanya!

  1. Thank goodness I'm not the only one who doesn't know what I want to be when I grow up. :) My goal is to work in a job that keeps me afloat, lets me sleep at night, and if possible, makes me feel productive and useful. Fortunately my current job is performing those roles for now.

My entire family talks to my dog - frequently - but my dad actually sings to her, even when no one else is in the room. It's adorable!

  5. Ha -- I hate when people stop in the middle of the sidewalk too! I always mutter something snarky just loud enough for them to hear; I absolutely cannot help it.

  6. i also hate people who stop on the sidewalk to chit-chat! and large groups who take up the entire sidewalk -- hello people! we have to walk in both directions! and dont even get me started on people who stand on the left of the escalator...

  7. Kari, it's a tough thing to admit. My job goals are similar - only I don't have all of them in my job...but I do adore the people I work with.

    Wendy, yes, slow walkers too!

Tessa, good to see you! Thanks!

Diane, it's been a while - great to see you! I think those are excellent career goals, ha! Ah, a fellow lip balmer.

Lorena, it's such a waste of time. Yay for not knowing what we want to be when we grow up!

So annoying, isn't it, Audi? Wow, you comment? Ooh, you're so badass. :D

Evanadine, yes, those people too! The people who all walk abreast of each other drive me bonkers. I am with you on escalators - some of us don't just stand and wait! Thanks for commenting!

  8. Glad to know these things about you! I also dislike stoppers especially in the crwoded streets or grocery stores in NY , where they can actually cause an accident! Being silly is wondeful state of mind, I am often there too.
    Laughs should come easily.
I also love-need lip balm, carry it everywhere.
    I enjoyed this little window!
    thanks for opening it!

  9. Sheila, I love this! Makes me so happy. You brought me a sweet memory...my (dear deceased) mom would always have tubes and tubes of Avon chapstick in all her pockets and purses! Just thinking of those makes me smile. <3
