High-Waisted Purple and Red

One thing about the 80s revival that I do love is high-waisted skirts. They make your legs look long, hold your tummy in, make your butt look good and you stand up straight.
This morning when I woke up, I couldn't remember what I had packed - this often occurs, as I am not a morning person. When I saw the purple tights, I was a bit worried, but I'm actually really happy with how they look with the dark red shoes and the purply/pinky/red brocade shirt. This outfit is somewhat similar to the last time I wore it, here.
This skirt is my 80s designer vintage Gianfranco Ferre that I found in Vancouver a couple of years ago. I love that the back comes up higher and has that nice little button detail. Some details about it here.

Pretty stuff!
I like how the pin looked on the front waist of the skirt.

A close-up of the jewelry:
I love purple and red together. It's one of my favourite colour combinations.

Shrug (Debut), shirt (Lhasa, thrifted), skirt (Gianfranco Ferre, from Giorgio Beverly Hills, thrifted), tights (Hue), shoes (Listen Up "Audrey" Fluevogs), bracelet and earrings (Myka Jewelry, gifts from L), pin (The Bay).

  2. I envy how good you look in long skirts like that; I can't seem to pull them off. The high-waisted is also great on you.

  5. I second what FashionAddict said! :) This is a GREAT outfit, you look gorgeous.

I always thought purple and red together was a fashion faux pas (thanks to my conservative mom), but a few years ago I saw the coolest, most adorable shoes ever created that were red leather with purple suede wavy-things. I LOVED those shoes and bought them even though they hurt, wore them a couple of times and nearly hobbled myself in the process. So I gave them away...still miss them. And your outfit is more proof that purple and red are awesome together!

  6. Thanks, FA! This is probably one of my most favourite outfits lately.

Aw, thanks, Kristen - it has to be just the right cut for me, though. Some long skirts just swamp me.

Sal, me too! It's the best skirt.

    Julia, thanks!

Sherylyn, thank you! I first wore red and purple together in high school and have loved it ever since. Aw, those sound like amazing shoes!

    Thanks, Lorena!
