Thrift and Gift Week - Conservative and Vintage

I found a gorgeous Banana Republic blazer in a local thrift shop last week (we don't have BR in my city, so this is a Major Find) and of course, I had to build an outfit around it. It was $26.95 (yeah, not quite "thrift" price, but still cheaper than new, right?).
The jacket has the season inside on the label: Fall 2005, so it's 4 years old. It's wool with Lycra and is feather light. It has that nice "boyfriend" cut, so I ran with it and rolled up the sleeves (an old 80s thing I used to do). The turquoise tank underneath was acquired on Sunday - it still had the store tags on it! And only $6!

This is such a toned-down look for me...I felt like I was in costume all day, haha. I'm practically normal!

The stuff:
I went with mostly vintage jewelry (Mom's bracelet and Grandma J's brooch). The bracelet has turquoise-y colours in the stones. The earrings are handmade, white gold and were a gift from L. Cat gave me the shoes!

Jacket (Banana Republic, thrifted), cami (Reitman's, consignment), pants (no label, consignment), shoes (Kenneth Cole Reaction, gift from Cat), bracelet (Coro, Mom's, vintage), brooch (Coro, Grandma J's, vintage), earrings (gift from L).

  1. Lovely! I like your new blazer a lot, and the way you put it together with other pieces (I still do that roll up the sleeves thing, too). Especially I like how you used the vintage jewelry.

    Have a great week! ♥

  2. I'm always amazed how well BR merch holds up. I've bought 10-year-old garments and they've lasted for ages! Love the blazer, lady - another great find.

  3. As far as you having a "costume" on today, one of the things I like about your style is that it is so versitile. And I think you look great today - hip, in fact.

  4. Thanks, sallymandy! It still feels a bit dull to me - I just don't like pants that much. You have a great week too!

Sal, it's good quality - I have picked up many BR pieces in the last year and am always impressed.

Aw, thanks, Tina! I do like to change it up.
